Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. Energy Audit and RE Feasibility Study

Objective: Conduct an investment-grade energy audit for the Robert Giacomini Dairy, a 690-acre certified organic dairy and Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese creamery on the eastern shore of Tomales Bay, in Marin County, CA.

Services: Sage evaluated historical and projected energy use, identified and quantified energy efficiency opportunities, and financially modeled recommended measures for the dairy. Sage also produced a renewable energy feasibility study to analyze the comparative viability of a 100 kW wind turbine, a 130 kW photovoltaic system, and a methane digester with a 30 kW micro-turbine generator.

Result: Based on Sage's recommendations, the dairy ultimately installed a net-metered biogas system.

Feedback: “David and Tom at Sage helped us focus on the best renewable energy resource available based on our operation and our needs while keeping a thoughtful eye on rebate benefits and cost implications. Their analysis and recommendation were invaluable to our decision making process.” -- Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company/Robert Giacomini Dairy, Inc.
