Support your community owned energy providerWe here at Sage are big fans of community owned energy providers. In California, customer’s have a choice of who they buy energy from through Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs). A CCA is a not-for-profit public agency created by cities and counties to purchase electricity for their customers and provide an alternative to buying power from a large utility. Two such CCA programs are Marin Clean Energy and Clean Power SF. Most CCAs are more progressive than large utilities, offering consumers the option of buying all, or large portions, of their power from renewable energy sources at little or no premium over power from a large utility. By choosing to buy your power from locally owned energy providers, you are supporting renewable energy, your local economy, and development of local clean energy generation. If you live in an area with the option of buying power from a community owned utility, we urge you to support renewable energy and buy power from your CCA or locally owned utility.
